    Description

Did you know Beer Works is the oldest restaurant and brewery in Boston? The largest? Did you know we now have three locations? No, then we invite you to learn more by viewing our history.

It all started over a beer. With Joe and Steve Slesar it almost always does. In this case, it was the desire for a better beer that led the brothers to form Slesar Bros. Brewing Company in 1990. Two years later they opened Boston Beer Works, their first brewery/eatery at 61 Brookline Avenue, across from Fenway Park. It was the culmination of years of restaurant and brewing experience and it quickly became a success. Providing an extensive menu of handcrafted ales and lagers and a varied menu of freshly prepared bold American cuisine to the thirsty and hungry masses.

An instant landmark, Boston Beer Works not only recognized and capitalized on the microbrewery trend it pushed the boundaries. Here, the restaurant layout took the beer making process and exposed it to the customers allowing them the chance to taste, touch and smell the complete beer making experience. This "naked and true" interior concept still exists in the store today and has been extended to all our locations.

Which brings up a good point, we have other locations. In 1996, the Slesar Brothers opened Salem Beer Works in Historic Salem, MA. Seven years later it is still the only brewery/eatery in town and is equally popular among locals and tourists. In 2000, the Slesar Brothers opened a second Boston Beer Works at 112 Canal Street across from the Fleet Center. Our flagship, it features two enormous bars, 15,000 square feet of space and 15 championship billiard tables in the second floor lounge as well as our corporate offices.

But after 11 years in business, the goal remains the same. Create a cool, unique, Boston area based Brewery-Restaurant that offers exceptional food and beer to its customers. We still brew over 50 variations of lagers, ales, stouts and pilsners each year and keep 15 micro-brews on tap at each location at any given time. And we've enhanced the food menu so it now features over 90 variations of bold American foods including pub classics and unique specialties.
